Nation Expects......
2009-11-10

The England Football Team's recent qualification to the World Cup Finals provided the perfect platform through which to launch National Express' "Nation Expects" campaign. The campaign was launched ahead of England's crucial World Cup Qualifier against Croatia with National Express unveiling a specially branded "Nation Expects" coach on Wembley's Olympic Way. The coach was again in position for England's following match with Belarus where fans were entertained by music, competitions and England football legends Peter Beardsley and Trevor Francis who were present to sign autographs and partake in media interviews.

National Express, Official Supporter of the England Football Team, hopes the campaign will capture the excitement and expectancy levels of the country that will build as the World Cup Finals draw closer.

The re-branded coach is the first of several due to go into service with the Nation Expects logo replacing the traditional National Express logo. Further Nation Expects initiatives will be rolled out by National Express as the country builds up towards next summer.

Ex-England international Peter Beardsley who launched the campaign by unveiling the coach on Olympic Way stated:

"I fully support this National Express initiative, there is no doubt that between now and next June the expectancy levels of football fans in England will rise considerably after such a successful qualification campaign. Nation Expects describes the mood of the country perfectly and expectancy levels will only rise and rise as we get closer to the finals. I got to the semi-finals in 1990 and I believe like many others in the country that we can go one better next year and lift that elusive trophy."

Tina Martin, Head of Sponsorship at National Express, said:

"Nation Expects is a play on words that we hope will capture the imagination of the country as we build on the excitement and expectancy levels ahead of next year's World Cup.  Between now and June we hope to connect emotionally with England football fans and deliver value through our direct services to Wembley as the National team prepares for potential World Cup glory next year."
